President Milanović Receives Delegation of “Tilting the Ring” Society and Confirms His Patronage

The President of the Republic, Zoran Milanović, received today the delegation of the “Tilting the Ring” Society and Municipality of Barban who acquainted him with the activities and preparations for the 51^st “Tilting the Ring” race. The race is taking place under the patronage of the President of the Republic in Barban on 23 August.

Since this year marks the 330^th anniversary of first mentioning of the Game, during the meeting, the representatives of the Society recalled the historical origins of this knightly horse-riding event, which dates back to 1696 and was revitalized in 1976. “Tilting the Ring” takes place every year in the penultimate weekend of August. In 2016, the race was registered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia.

The delegation of the “Tilting the Ring” Society included the Society’s President Aldo Osip, alongside Presidium members Valter Batel, Fabris Peruško and Danijel Benčić. Andi Kalčić, Mayor of Barban and Aleksa Vale, President of the Municipal Council, were also in attendance.

President Milanović was accompanied by the Adviser to the President for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić.
