President Milanović Receives Delegation of Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on the Occasion of the Publication of the Monograph “Lisinski 1973–2023”
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today the delegation of the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on the occasion of the publication of the monograph “Lisinski 1973 – 2023”, authored by Ana Unkić, PhD. Alongside the author and the Hall’s General Manager Adviser Ana Unkić, the meeting was attended by the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall’s General Manager Nina Čalopek, editor of the monograph and Head of the Music Information Centre Jelena Vuković, reviewers of the monograph Professor Vjera Katalinić, PhD and Professor Naila Ceribašić, PhD, as well as Ivan Vuljević, son of the first General Manager of Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall.
During the meeting, President Milanović was presented with the monograph detailing the Hall’s history from its initial concepts, procurement and construction to its grand opening on 29 January 1973, as well as its exceptionally rich program history in the past half-century. It is a comprehensive publication which brings the story of the first 50 years of one of the most important Croatian cultural institutions, based on researched archival and documentary materials.
The author Ana Unkić, PhD stated that the monograph “Lisinski 1973 – 2023” is a result of years of research of extensive archival, program, press, photographic, audio and audio-visual material. Furthermore, the monograph does not view the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall solely as an architectural and concert space, but also as an institution that has crucially shaped the Croatian musical and cultural life over the decades and became of the most recognisable symbols of Zagreb. The monograph “Lisinski 1973 – 2023” was presented at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall on 25 September as a kick-off event to a series of programs with which the Music Information Centre of the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall is celebrating 55 years of operation.
The planned renovation of the Concert Hall was also discussed at the meeting, with General Manager Čalopek explaining that work is currently underway on the renovation project. She emphasised that the Concert Hall has a positive financial balance and that its venue halls host about 700 various events a year, about 200 of which are organised by the institution itself.
President Milanović was accompanied by the Special Adviser of the President of the Republic for Culture Zdravko Zima.
