Shouts and Actions Openly Glorifying the Nazi and Ustasha Regime Demand Immediate and Systemic Response by the Police, State Attorney’s Office and Courts
The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović condemned the unacceptable and disgraceful behaviour of a part of Torcida fans ahead of the Conference League football match in Split. President Milanović’s Statement is provided below:
“The behaviour of a part of Torcida fans in Split is unacceptable, disgraceful and deserves absolute condemnation. Shouts and actions openly glorifying the Nazi and Ustasha regime demand an immediate and systemic response by the Croatian police, State Attorney’s Office and ultimately, the courts. I call on all institutions responsible to approach into the investigation of this shameful event with the utmost seriousness, so that such a thing never happens again. Words of condemnation, such as ones heard by the Government, are no longer sufficient. Measures and sanctions are necessary to show that there is no place in Croatia for glorifying Nazism and the Ustasha movement. Fans who love and respect their football club must not be held hostage by a minority which brings shame not only upon Tordica and Hajduk, but upon Croatia as well.”
