President Milanović Meets with Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received on Friday Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Croatia.
The two sides exchanged views on the friendly and partnerly bilateral relations between the two states, which will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year. They expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation achieved to date and discussed opportunities to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level. President Milanović reiterated the support of the Republic of Croatia for the one-China policy.
The two interlocutors also discussed current global and regional challenges, including areas of crisis. They exchanged views on the prospects for multilateralism in international relations. The meeting also addressed current developments in relations between the European Union and China, with particular emphasis on trade.
Also present at the meeting with Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, at the Office of the President of the Republic were Qi Qianjin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Croatia; Li Jian, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; Shi Wei, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; Liu Pengyu, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Press, Communication and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; Song Jia, Deputy Director-General of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; Zhu Yali, Head of the European Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; Deng Cong and Zhang Chao, Deputy Heads of the European Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; and Ye Qiutong, Deputy Head of the Press, Communication and Public Diplomacy Division.
The President of the Republic of Croatia was accompanied by the Head of the Office of the President of the Republic Orsat Miljenić, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the People’s Republic of China Dario Mihelin, Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic Bartol Šimunić, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Foreign and European Policy Neven Pelicarić, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić, Spokesperson of the Office of the President of the Republic Nikola Jelić, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of the Republic Goran Grobotek, Assistant Adviser to the President of the Republic for Foreign and European Policy Ivan Mutavdžić, and Assistant Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy Martina Ciglević.
