President Milanović Receives Independent Union of Research and Higher Education Delegation

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a delegation of the Independent Union of Research and Higher Education that had requested a meeting in order to inform him of the current situation at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb.

The delegation of the Independent Union of Research and Higher Education told the President that the suspension of the dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is inappropriate. They claim that the situation at the Faculty is a consequence of the misuse of the University’s autonomy. They, as a union, got involved in the events at the Faculty in their efforts to defend the system and the administrative procedure at the University. They concluded that, for the system as a whole to be operational, it is necessary to regulate the administrative structure of the University by means of a potential amendment to the Law on research activities and higher education. Comprising the delegation of the Independent Union of Research and Higher Education were:  Union president Prof. Petar Pervan, PhD,  Great Council president Prof. Igor Radeka, General Secretary Vilim Ribić, the president of the Regional Council of Zagreb Assoc. Prof. Vesnica Garašić, PhD, and the head of the Union’s Legal Service Ana Petošić.
