President Milanović at First Session of Decorations and Recognitions Standing Committee

The Decorations and Recognitions Standing Committee of the Republic of Croatia held its first session with the participation of the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović. The task of the Decorations and Recognitions Standing Committee of the Republic of Croatia is to examine incentives and proposals for awarding decorations and recognitions, in accordance with the provisions of Article 28 of the Law on Decorations and Recognitions of the Republic of Croatia. It shall submit coordinated proposals to the President of the Republic of Croatia.

The Decorations and Recognitions Standing Committee is composed of the Civil Decorations and Recognitions Standing Committee and the Military Decorations and Recognitions Standing Committee.

Academic Vladimir Neidhardt, President of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, was appointed Chair of the Civil Decorations and Recognitions Standing Committee, while Bartol Šimunić, Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic, was appointed Deputy Chair. Melita Mulić was appointed member of the Civil Decorations and Recognitions Standing Committee, as the President’s Adviser for Human Rights and Civil Society. The other members of the Standing Committee are as follows: Dr. Josip Jelić (Croatian Red Cross), Ratko Kovačić (Croatian Paralympic Committee), Associate Professor Nebojša Stojčić, Ph. D. (Croatian Rectors’ Conference), Sanda Čorak, Ph. D. (Croatian Olympic Committee) and Drago Hedl (Croatian Journalists’ Association).

Major General (R) Josip Stojković was appointed Chair of the Military Decorations and Recognitions Standing Committee, while Lieutenant General (R) Marijan Mareković, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans, was appointed Deputy Chair. Dragan Lozančić, Ph. D., was appointed member of the Military Decorations and Recognitions Standing Committee, as the President’s Adviser for Defence and National Security. The other members of the Standing Committee are as follows: Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Siniša Jurković, Acting Head of the Department of Human Resources of the Ministry of Defence Anto Zelić, Assistant Minister of Internal Affairs Ante Delipetar and Assistant Minister of Croatian Veterans Dinko Tandara.
