President of the Republic Attends Fric Award Presentation Ceremony
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended the award ceremony Fric for the best prose fiction of 2019-2020, which was organized by the weekly Express in the Croatian National Theatre.
The finalists of the 2019-2020 Fric award were: Darko Cvijetić (Što na podu spavaš), Marko Gregur (Vošicki), Almin Kaplan (Meho), Andrej Nikolaidis (Odlazak), Ivica Prtenjača (Plivač), Želimir Periš (Mladenka kostonoga). The award winner was Marko Gregur for his novel “Vošicki” published by Henacoma.
Following the presentation of the works competing for the award, a musical intermezzo and the announcement of the winner, President Milanović noted: “It confuses you to see such a young man to be the author of this novel, yet young people wrote great works of prose and poetry”.
“I would like people to read this book and try to understand it, as I will. And how many will do so is good, because it can only do good. I am glad that I came and heard this beautiful music”, the President said.
The Fric award organized by the weekly Express is named after the nickname of the great Croatian writer Miroslav Krleža.
