President Milanović on Earth Day: Our Individual Voices and Actions Are Powerful
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović has sent the following message on the occasion of Earth Day, which is observed on 22nd April:
“Earth Day being observed today should be seen as a further global call to all of us – fellow politicians, world leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, citizens – to take joint action and seek better solutions for the renewal of our planet.
Climate change, pollution and other threats to the natural systems on the Earth could jeopardize the lives of millions of people and destabilize the global economy with unthinkable social consequences. They are a warning not to be reconciled with the mistakes we have done in the past. Today we are aware that we can build a better society and that investing in the revitalization of our only home is our joint imperative.
Each and every one of us needs a healthy Earth to be able to sustain our own existence. We should not forget that half of the world’s economy mostly depends on natural resources. Therefore this is not the story of a group of enthusiasts but of each and every one of us – our individual voices and our individual actions are powerful”.
