The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met with a delegation of the Varaždin Baroque Evenings [Varaždinske barokne večeri] classical music festival comprising Festival Director Davor Bobić, Varaždin Concert Office Director Raymond Rojnik and Varaždin Mayor Ivan Čehok.

The Varaždin Baroque Evenings classical music festival, which was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic, is a national festival that celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. On that occasion, a special monograph was published, which the organizers of the event presented to the President of the Republic. The two-week festival boasts some thirty concerts performed by several hundred musicians from across the globe and has evolved into a European and world-famous event, thanks to successful long-term planning and an attractive programme that draws audiences repeatedly to the city of Varaždin.

All festival events are held in the elegant buildings of Varaždin – one of the best preserved baroque cities in Europe. The festival is supplemented by a parallel programme entitled ‘Total Baroque’ which, according to members of the delegation, points to Varaždin’s popularity and to the Varaždin Baroque Evenings festival as the city’s brand.
