Andrej Plenković entered the Wikipedia of Croatian political dishonour as a measuring unit for trickery, lies and manipulations

Before fleeing press questions on Ivan Turudić last night, Andrej Plenković, visibly nervous and spiteful,  once again invented enemies foreign and domestic of Croatia, talked nonsense about “the President of the Republic having overstepped his powers”, and lied that the President of the Republic had not timely informed him of the security risks in appointing Turudić State Attorney-General. And still, after his torrent of lies, he had thick skin to talk about the legacy of the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović as “primitivism and vulgarity”.

So, if he is talking about legacy, here is a reminder of his main legacy, dealing only with facts, carefully chosen words.

Andrej Plenković is the chief protector of crime and corruption, the first and only prime minister in the history of the Croatian state who literally has politically occupied the State Attorney’s Office (DORH) and placed it under his direct control. In order to protect himself, AP, and his narrow party retinue from possible criminal prosecution, he designed and staged a “democratic” farse, and without asking about the interest of the state imposed Ivan Turudić as State Attorney-General on the eve of parliamentary elections. With “Operation Turudić” he wants to cover or erase all traces of corruption, crime and cronyism leading to former and current officials of his government and party.

By adopting a repressive law to protect his image and work, Lex AP, Andrej Plenković is handing over a legal instrument to Turudić which he will use to strike fear into the hearts of people. In the evil era of Andrej Plenković, Croatia has become the most corrupt in its history, and the unthinkable has become reality: he has charged a fan and a friend of criminals, Turudić, to fight crime. And that at a time when a series of his chosen are awaiting indictments, and investigations are pending for the remainder of his “credible” government.

Andrej Plenković is a liar, a political fake who has tricked Croatian citizens from the first day he became leader of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), whose leadership he assumed by trickery like an octrorated bureaucrat. In the history of Croatian democracy, he will remain a measuring unit for political pranks. From the first lie he played subtly – that he will transform the HDZ in order to transform Croatia, Andrej Plenković has reached the point of blatantly lying to people’s face.

In the morning he says that he requested a background check of Turudić, in the afternoon he says that he did not request one because he cannot. He lies as Turudić when on camera he says that he did not meet with Mamić, and that, just one hour after sitting in a car with him. Lying has become the official policy of his government whose members have to repeat Plenković’s untruth, trampling on their own dignity.

Andrej Plenković is a complacent manipulator who uses the state for his personal status and promotion. In eight years of governing, he has not made one decision without weighing his interest. Feeding himself today instructions from Brussels as once croissants, he is prepared to sweep the Croatian state interest under the carpet just to keep his name in the drum to fill European positions. Not once in Brussels did he dare speak out loud and clear to defend the real interests of the Croatian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the essential interests of the Republic of Croatia, because he leaves political rudeness for domestic purposes.

Therefore, he rudely and deceitfully attacks Croatian members of Parliament who defended Croatian laws and the Constitution from his self-will, labelling them pro-Russian, he who gave up the largest Croatian company of the time to the Russians. And then covertly enables millions in profit to his friends, prepares a judicial disgrace and possible financial damage in billions to the state. Obediently caring for foreign interests, he embarrassed Croatia when he – again arbitrarily, violating the Constitution – ordered [the Croatian representative] to vote against peace in Gaza in the United Nations.

Andrej Plenković legalized political trade and transformed Croatian state policy into a fair of personal interests. He seized power and authority that has survived only thanks to the support of cheap ethno-businessmen in Parliament, USKOK suspects (Office for Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime) and some political fools, and attacks independent state institutions and with their assistance transforms them in turn into his party service. And as for the rare institutions that remained out of his reach, such as the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, he threatens to abolish them or arrogantly disqualifies them with lies, such as in the case of the Supreme Court.

Andrej Plenković imagines that he pretends to be a follower of Franjo Tuđman with whom he has nothing whatsoever in common. So he dares to measure the national feelings of his political opponents although he has discovered his own national feeling when other qualifications ran out for his political career. And his national feelings stop being important as soon as he crosses Bregana, then he becomes a European record-holder by running into the arms of Ursula von der Leyen so that he could proudly wear the label of Ursula’s gofer.

Only what has been mentioned, but there is quite a bit more, is truly the “respectable” legacy of the liar and manipulator Andrej Plenković. The gross tonnage with which Plenković entered the Wikipedia of Croatian political dishonour moved the vast majority of other protagonists to the level of mere entries.
