Defense Council Supports Government in Efforts to Finalize Selection of Fighter Jets

The Defense Council held its 14th session on the 20th of May 2021. The selection and procurement of multipurpose fighter jets for the Croatian Armed Forces was discussed at the Council, which was convened jointly by the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, in accordance with the Defense Act.

The Defense Council discussed the conclusions made by the Interdepartmental Commission for the Procurement of Fighter Jets. The Council thanked the members of the Commission and the competent Task Force for the job well done and expressed its support to the Government in the run-up to the completion of the process, which is under jurisdiction of the Government.

The session was attended by all members of the Defense Council: the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, the Chair of the Defense Committee of the Croatian Parliament, the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Defense and National Security.
