Delegate of the President of the Republic Orsat Miljenić Pays Tribute to Victims of the Jasenovac Concentration Camp
The Head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Orsat Miljenić, participated as the delegate of the President of the Republic, Zoran Milanović, in the commemoration marking the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Jasenovac concentration camp and paid tribute to all victims at the Stone Flower Monument at the Jasenovac Memorial Site. He was accompanied by the President’s Adviser for Human Rights and Civil Society, Melita Mulić.
The commemoration “Memory for the Future” was held at the Jasenovac Memorial Site in remembrance of the victims and surviving inmates of the Ustasha concentration camp Jasenovac. This year marks the 81st anniversary of the inmates’ escape from the Jasenovac concentration camp.
The commemoration began with a gathering at the Memorial Museum, from where the procession of remembrance proceeded to the Stone Flower Monument. A commemorative ceremony and a cultural and artistic programme were held there, after which delegations paid their respects by laying white roses and placing pebbles at the foot of the monument.
