Delegates of the President of the Republic Orsat Miljenić and Marijan Mareković Participate in the Commemoration of the Day of Remembrancefor the Victims the Homeland War in Vukovar
On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Homeland War and the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja, the delegates of the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces – the Head of the Office of the President of the Republic, Orsat Miljenić, and the Adviser to the President for Homeland War Veterans, Marijan Mareković – participated in the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Vukovar 1991-2025 “Vukovar – Place of Special Homeland Reverence“.
The commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the Vukovar tragedy started on the grounds of the “Dr. Juraj Njavro” National Memorial Hospital in Vukovar, then a memorial procession followed through the city, led by the Croatian defenders of Vukovar with family members of the killed, missing, murdered, forcibly taken away and deceased Croatian defenders of Vukovar, led by the defenders of the City of Vukovar.
When the memorial procession reached the Memorial Cemetery of the Victims of the Homeland War, the victims of Vukovar were honoured in a wreath-laying and candle-lighting ceremony in front of the Memorial to the Victims of the Homeland War. After the wreath-laying at the Memorial Cemetery of the Croatian Defenders of the Homeland War, a wreath of the President of the Republic was also laid at Ovčara, in front of the Memorial to the Mass Grave. The Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid was also present as the delegates of the President of the Republic laid the wreaths of the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces.
