Easter Greetings from the President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović
The upcoming feast of Easter is embraced and celebrated by the entire Christian world as a triumph of life, a hope for a new beginning and a light that overcomes darkness. Because of their belief in the resurrection, Easter is the most significant religious holiday for all Christians. This year, the message of Easter unites all Christians, regardless of the civilizational heritage that accompanies their religious practice. Let this fact be an additional call for mutual understanding, appreciation and respect, both among believers and all those who care about peace, security and progress.
The triumph of life and humanity – the core meaning of Easter – is important to recognize and embrace as a universal secular value. This is especially crucial today, as we witness wars, threats to global security, and major social disruptions across the world. The dangers facing the modern world require an unprecedented level of responsibility and sobriety, so that we may avoid the permanent collapse of the civilizational and social values we have achieved. I sincerely wish and hope that reason and humanity will soon prevail across the world, and that people and nations will have reason to rejoice and celebrate a new beginning, as proclaimed by the message of Easter.
To everyone in Croatia who will be celebrating Easter tomorrow, as well as to our compatriots in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I wish you a peaceful and joyful celebration of the greatest Christian holiday, surrounded by your families and loved ones. Happy Easter!
