National Security Council is not to be Convened by Heads of President’s and Government’s Office, but by President Milanović and Prime Minister Plenković
The sessions of the National Security Council are not to be convened by Mr. Orsat Miljenić, Head of the Office of the President of the Republic and by Mr. Zvonimir Frka Petešić, Head of the Office of the Prime Minister.
With all due respect to Messrs. Miljenić and Frka Petešić, former Ambassador to Morocco, who initially assumed this post on the decision of the then Prime Minister Milanović and the then President of the Republic Ivo Josipović, we shall again repeat: The sessions of the National Security Council are co-convened by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and President Zoran Milanović, who also chairs the sessions pursuant to Article 4, paragraph 3 of the Security and Intelligence System Act.
At the first and the only session of the National Security Council to date, which was co-convened by President Milanović and Prime Minister Plenković in the spring, the Prime Minister – with the consent of the President of the Republic – brought almost all of his ministers to the meeting, including his Government’s Head of Office Frka Petešić, although they are not members of the National Security Council. Mr. Orsat Miljenić, Head of the Office of the President of the Republic, was not present at the session because he is not a member of the National Security Council and because President Milanović respects the Security and Intelligence System Act. After such unlawful actions of the Government, the President of the Republic will now adhere even more strictly to the law, which is his constitutional duty.
