President Milanović agrees to convene the National Security Council and Defense Council sessions and proposes holding them next week
In response to numerous media inquiries and public interest regarding the convening of the National Security Council and Defense Council sessions, the Office of the President of the Republic informs the public that on Friday, 20 March 2026, President Zoran Milanović responded to a letter from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković dated 17 March. In his letter to the Prime Minister, President Milanović:
- Accepted the proposal and agreed on the need to convene and hold sessions of the National Security Council and the Defense Council;
- Agreed on the proposed topics to be discussed by the National Security Council and the Defense Council;
- Proposed that the sessions of the National Security Council and the Defense Council be held next week.
Given the previously confirmed agreement on the need to hold sessions of the National Security Council and the Defense Council, as well as agreement on the session topics, President Milanović expects the announced sessions to take place soon.
