President Milanović and Ombudswoman Discuss Hate Speech and Inadequate Response of Institutions

The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović received Ombudswoman Tena Šimonović Einwalter.

The newly-elected Ombudswoman presented to the President of the Republic the priorities of her work and made special reference to legislation and the powers of the institution of ombudsperson.

President Milanović and Ombudswoman Šimonović Einwalter also discussed the most frequent problems encountered by Croatian citizens and society, particularly in terms of hate speech and inadequate responses of competent state institutions in such situations. Furthermore, the topics discussed included protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms as well as the need to suppress discrimination in Croatian society on all grounds.

On this occasion also President Milanović underlined that he sees and publicly performs his duty as a guardian of democracy, the Constitution, the legal order and as a protector of human rights.
