President Milanović Attends Commemoration Marking 28th Anniversary of Death of Colonel Damir Tomljanović – Gavran

The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović attended a commemoration marking the 28th anniversary of the death of Colonel Damir Tomljanović – Gavran.

A Homeland War hero, Damir Tomljanović – Gavran died on 17 February 1994 during a reconnaissance mission on Velebit Mountain. At the commemoration, which was held at the local cemetery in Krivi Put, wreaths were laid and candles were lit.

Apart from President Milanović, members of Tomljanović’s family, members of the “Tigers” 1st Guards Brigade Veterans Association, envoys of the Minister of Veterans’ Affairs and the Minister of Defence, and representatives of veterans’ associations and local authorities paid tribute to Tomljanović – Gavran. The President of the “Tigers” 1st Guards Brigade Veterans Association Ilija Vučemilović Šimunović addressed those present.

Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Mareković and Lieutenant General Ante Gotovina (retd) attended the wreath-laying and candle-lighting alongside President Milanović, in memory of Colonel Damir Tomljanović – Gavran.
