President Milanović Attends Croatian Rugby Championship Final Match in Sinj

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended in Sinj the Croatian Rugby Championship final match between Sinj Rugby Club and the Croatian Academic Rugby Club “Mladost” Zagreb who won against the home club and celebrated in Sinj.

The host, Sinj Rugby Club, was the current champion, last year’s Cup winner. In its 46-year long history, the Sinj Rugby Club won the title of national champion for the first time last year. Therefore, this season, thanks to their maximum performance, they ranked first in the standings thereby becoming the hosts of the final match in Sinj and getting the opportunity to defend the title before their home crowd.

With their victory in Sinj, “Mladost” from Zagreb won their third championship title in their long history.

The Sinj Rugby Club was founded in 1978 and since then has been continuously operating in Sinj. The club numbers over 350 members of different age categories and represents the third sport in the town of Sinj, after the “Junak” football club and the “Alkar” basketball club, making it a major factor in promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle. It is an amateur sport in which the players play for free and most of the players include professional soldiers, medical professionals, professional firefighters, private entrepreneurs or students.

Accompanying President Milanović at the rugby match in Sinj was the Head of the Office of the President Orsat Miljenić.
