President Milanović Attends Premiere of “Juha braće Marx”

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended a performance of “Juha braće Marx” (the Marx Brothers’ “Duck Soup”) directed by Kokan Mladenović, based on the film “Duck Soup” by director Lee McCarey from the Marx Brothers’ film oeuvre.

The model for the play is the American comedy film “Duck Soup” filmed in 1933 and directed by Leo McCarey. It is considered the most famous work in the Marx Brothers’ filmography and one of the classics of American cinema and film comedy. The Marx Brothers revolutionized early film comedy by introducing elements of absurdity, burlesque and verbal humour.

The play, which premiered at “Komedija” Theatre, features an ensemble of twelve actors and a pianist. The role of Grouch T. Firefly is played by Goran Malus, while the character of Chico is played by Davor Svedružić. Harpa is played by Ognjen Milovanović, and Zeppa is played by Jan Kovačić. The play also features Nina Kaić Madić, Saša Buneta, Nera Stipičević, Jasna Bilušić, Ivona Kundert, Ivan Magud, Ivan Glowatzky and pianist Tomislav Parmać.

The director and author of the text and songs is Kokan Mladenović, playwright Karla Leko, set designer Irena Kraljić, costume designer Aleksandra Pecić Mladenović, stage movement collaborator Pravdan Devlahović, and the author of the music is Irena Popović Dragović.

Accompanying President Milanović was the Special Adviser of the President for Culture Zdravko Zima.
