President Milanović Attends Promotion of Damir Grubiša’s Book “Diplomacija iza kulisa”
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended the launch of the book “Diplomacija iza kulisa – Komparativna analiza jedne profesije” [“Diplomacy Behind the Scenes: A Comparative Analysis of a Profession”] by the doyen of Croatian foreign policy, Professor Damir Grubiša, Ph. D. The event was held this evening at Novinarski dom.
The book reveals the secrets of diplomacy, espionage and international relations through both history and contemporary politics, combining scholarly analysis, diplomatic anecdotes and a critical perspective on the world’s major powers and Croatian diplomacy.
In addition to President Milanović and the author, the book was presented by Assistant Professor Senada Šelo Šabić, Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Development and International Relations and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. President Milanović was accompanied by his Special Adviser for Culture, Zdravko Zima.
Damir Grubiša has also taught at universities in Rijeka, Bologna, Bradford, Sorbonne, Notre Dame, and in Tallahassee, Florida. He founded and edited the journal Argumenti in Rijeka and served as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Politička misao (Political Thought). In the non-governmental sector, he served as Vice-President of the Supek Society for Democracy and Social Justice, Director of the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, President of the Croatian Political Science Association, and a member of the Croatian Radiotelevision Council.
During his diplomatic career, he served as Croatia’s Ambassador to Italy, San Marino and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) from 2012 to 2015.
