President Milanović Confirms to Albanian Foreign Minister that Croatia Supports Albania’s Accession to the European Union

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania Igli Hasani who is on an official visit to the Republic of Croatia.

At the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic, it was confirmed that Croatia and Albania have excellent bilateral relations. President Milanović confirmed strong Croatian support for Albania’s accession to the European Union and repeated his belief that negotiations on Albania’s membership in the EU should have already been in the final phase especially considering the fact that that state has already been a member of NATO for 15 years. The discussion also included the situation in South East Europe and President Milanović confirmed that the Republic of Kosovo can count on Croatia’s support for membership in the Council of Europe.  

Present at the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic along with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania Igli Hasani were the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the Republic of Croatia Riza Poda, the Head of the Cabinet of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania Donika Hoxha, the Adviser to the Minister Albana Agastra, an employee in the Department for Regional and Neighbouring States Arjana Toçila and the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the Republic of Croatia Alma Kasa.

Alongside the President of the Republic were the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Albania Zlatko Kramarić, the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Foreign and European Policy Neven Pelicarić and the Secretary of the Cabinet for Foreign and European Policy in the Office of the President of the Republic Ivan Mutavdžić.
