President Milanović Decorates Interior Ministry Staff on Police Day

On the occasion of Police Day and the feast of St. Michael, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović hosted a reception where he presented the Homeland Gratitude Memorial Medal to employees of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia.

Congratulating the Interior Ministry staff Police Day and the feast of St. Michael, President Milanović wished them good health, but also strong nerves and composure in the performance of their responsible duties. In his speech, the President said a police officer’s job was socially and politically but not party-oriented. Since 29 September is international police day, he suggested that Croatian Police could have their own day.

“You are the Croatian Police and I’ve been wondering why we don’t have a police day that would reflect an important event from our recent history,” President Milanović said, adding that the Croatian Police could observe the day they first lined up in Zagreb’s Svetošimunska Street.
