President Milanović Endorses Activities and Projects of “Naša Djeca” Society from Zabok
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović today received a delegation from the Society “Naša djeca” (“Our Children”) from Zabok, which, through its creative activities with children, makes a significant contribution to the development of children’s cultural and creative expression, as well as to their informal education.
The President of the Society “Naša djeca” Zabok, Sonja Borovčak, introduced President Milanović to the programmes implemented by the Society, highlighting non-institutional upbringing and education programmes for children through projects such as the Children’s Forum, the Children’s City Council, the playroom “Kutić slikovnica,” the children’s choir “Zabočki mališani,” and the KIKI Festival – an international children’s film festival.
She also presented to President Milanović the PIK PAK project – a place for children’s participation and activities. This involves the construction of a house in the centre of Zabok – one that does not yet exist anywhere else in Croatia – which will be intended for children from across the Croatian Zagorje region, regardless of their socioeconomic status, and will offer them opportunities to engage in various creative and practical workshops, different forms of socialization, play therapy, and learning.
“In all the programmes and projects we implement, children’s participation is paramount, and all programmes are based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child,” said Borovčak, speaking about the activities of the Society “Naša djeca” from Zabok. President Milanović praised the work of the Society and expressed his support for the project presented.
In addition to the President of the Society “Naša djeca,” the meeting at the Office of the President was attended by the Children’s Mayor of the town of Zabok, Vida Tisanić; her deputy, Julia Kolar Počivalšek; the Children’s Mayor’s adviser, Jakov Marković; and the Society’s secretary, Jasenka Borovčak.
President Milanović was accompanied by Jadranka Žarković, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Education, and Julije Domac, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Energy and Climate.
