President Milanović Endorses Student Project of Croatian Student Association of the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received the members of the Croatian Student Association of the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering (CSA-FME) who presented to him their new FSB Racing Team project, which has been constructing racing cars for already 17 years and takes part in international competitions. Attending the meeting with President Milanović were the president of the Croatian Student Association of the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and project manager Mislav Bošnjak, Association secretary general and marketing manager Bruno Dobrić, team leader Adriana Đugum and technical manager of the electric racing car project Zvonimir Ercegovac.
The FSB Racing Team Project is one of the largest student projects in Croatia and includes 117 members from various University of Zagreb faculties. To date they have constructed a total of nine racing cars that have successfully competed at international Formula Student competitions. Members of the CSA-FME boasted of having constructed the first electric racing car in Croatia and surrounding region, and are undertaking the conversion of this racing car into an autonomous car in order to be the first Formula Student team in Croatia to design a driverless car.
In presenting their work to the President of the Republic, the members of the Croatian Student Association of the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering underscored that their goal is to systematically transmit their know-how, which, they feel, is the most valuable part of their project. Their project is generally funded through donations and sponsorship agreements, and in addition to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture that has supported them from the outset, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing has joined the team of sponsors as well as 80 companies from Croatia and abroad that have recognized the project’s potential.
President Milanović fully endorsed the project of the Croatian Student Association of the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and told them that what they are doing is important and to always compare themselves and compete with the best.
