President Milanović Entrusts Mandate to Form the Government of the Republic of Croatia to Andrej Plenković
The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović issued a Decision on entrusting the mandate to form the Government of the Republic of Croatia to Andrej Plenković based on the apportionment of seats in the Croatian Parliament. President Milanović handed the Decision on entrusting the mandate to form the Government of the Republic of Croatia to Andrej Plenković at a meeting held today in the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia whereby Andrej Plenković has become the mandatary to form the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
Before President Milanović entrusted the mandate to form the Government of the Republic of Croatia to him, the President of the HDZ Andrej Plenković submitted 78 signatures of elected members of the Croatian Parliament to the President of the Republic thus demonstrating that he enjoys the confidence of the majority of all members of Parliament.
According to the Decision on entrusting the mandate to form the Government of the Republic of Croatia, immediately after the formation of the Government and no later than 30 days after having accepted the mandate, the mandatary Andrej Plenković is obliged to present the Government’s programme and introduce the Government to the Croatian Parliament and request a vote of confidence.
We remind that on Thursday, based on the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia and the Law on the Election of Members of the Croatian Parliament, President Milanović issued a Decision on convening the first session of the Croatian Parliament on 16 May 2024.
Alongside President Milanović at the meeting when the signatures were submitted and the Decision on entrusting the mandate was handed was the Head of the Office of the President of the Republic Orsat Miljenić, and alongside the Prime Minister and President of the HDZ was the Head of his Office Zvonimir Frka-Petešić.
