President Milanović Lays Wreath at “Prekinuto djetinjstvo“ Memorial in Slavonski Brod to the Children Killed in the Homeland War
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended the 19th annual commemoration entitled ‘Small Cross – Big Sacrifice’ held in honour of the children killed in the Homeland War, and laid a wreath at the ‘Prekinuto djetinjstvo’ memorial in Slavonski Brod dedicated to the 402 children killed in the Homeland War mostly as a result of bombing and shelling. The commemoration was organized by the Joint Associations of Croatian Civilian Victims of the Homeland War.
The Joint Associations of Croatian Civilian Victims of the Homeland War assemble the parents of children killed in the Homeland War. These encounters are very meaningful, because, as some of them have said, they meet people who have had similar experiences, they talk about their grief, cry and comfort each other. The youngest victim was six months old and the oldest 18 years old. The monument was erected in 2016.
Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić and the Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Mareković.
