President Milanović Meets with Delegation of “Udruga slijepih Zagreb”
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a delegation of the “Udruga slijepih Zagreb” (Association for the Blind of Zagreb), a charitable and nonprofit organization caring for the interests of blind and visually impaired persons from the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County.
The delegation acquainted President Milanović with their activities aimed at empowering individuals to lead an independent life, enhance their quality of life and status in the society of blind and visually impaired persons. They talked about social entrepreneurship in which the Association is engaged. Namely, with the objective of creating new jobs for unemployed Association members, in 2016 they launched a project entitled “Sapuni s točkicama” (soap with raised dots) that involves the manufacture of soap in the “Sfera Visia” company owned by the Association. The “sapuni s točkicama” is a handcrafted soap with raised dots that make it discernable and at the same time symbolize blind and visually impaired persons.
The “Sapuni s točkicama” project has been recognized internally this year. For their global contribution to public relations in accordance with the UN sustainable development goals – goal 10 – reduction of inequalities, the “Apriori World” agency has won a Golden World Award 2020 for the “Sapuni s točkicama” project awarded by the International Public Relations Association of London. “Apriori World” agency does communication strategies, branding and fundraising for the Association for the Blind of Zagreb free of charge.
President Milanović welcomed the Association’s activities and gave his endorsement to future activities aimed at including as many blind and visually impaired persons as possible in society as it contributes to the development of an equal society. Attending the meeting with President Milanović were the president of the “Udruga slijepih Zagreb” Branimir Šutalo, CEO Goran Denis Tomašković, members Dario Vuljar, Zrinka Kovačić and Monika Rastovac, and director of “Apriori World“ and volunteer at “Sfera Visia“ Danijel Koletić.
