President Milanović Meets with Leadership of Faculty of Textile Technology Celebrating 65 Years of Work
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today the leadership of the Faculty of Textile Technology of the University of Zagreb on the occasion of 65 years of textile studies and celebrating 35 years of the Faculty.
The leadership of the Faculty of Textile Technology, led by the Dean, Anica Hursa Šajatović, acquainted President Milanović with the beginnings of independent studies of textiles and textile technology in Croatia, which were first organized in the early 1960s as studies at the Faculty of Technology in Zagreb. In 1983, the Higher Technical Textile Schools were integrated into the Institute of Textiles and Clothing of the Faculty of Technology, which has been organized as an independent institution and constituent part of the University since 1991 under the name Faculty of Textile Technology, University of Zagreb, it was said during the meeting.
Today, there are 480 students studying at the Faculty of Textile Technology, and the Faculty has 135 employees. The Faculty of Textile Technology offers university undergraduate, graduate, specialist, doctoral and professional studies, and is also engaged in scientific research as well as artistic and professional work.
The meeting also addressed the situation in the Croatian textile industry, with which the Faculty has been cooperating for a number of years, offering its knowledge. Faculty representatives said that the parts of the Croatian textile industry that use innovations and produce technical textiles for industry, agriculture and construction have good prospects. As their contribution, they highlighted biodegradable textiles for agriculture, which is a Croatian innovation and production is already undeway.
Attending the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic in addition to the Dean of the Faculty of Textile Technology were the Vice-Dean for Educationm Ksenija Smoljak; Kalamir, the Vice-Dean for Scientific Research and Artistic Work, Ivana Špelić; the Vice-Dean for Business, Bosiljka Šaravanja; the Vice-Dean for International and Interinstitutional Cooperation, Anita Tarbuk; and Faculty Secretary, Romana Medved. Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka Žarković.
