President Milanović Meets with Organizers of 6th Congress of Social Pedagogues
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with representatives of the Croatian Association of Social Pedagogues on the occasion of the 6th Congress of Social Pedagogues, which was held on 25-27 September this year. It was organized by the Croatian Association of Social Pedagogues and the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences of the University of Zagreb. The congress entitled “New Age, New Perspectives” assembled approximately 150 social pedagogues from throughout Croatia, who work in upraising and education, social work, justice and the prison system, healthcare, the academic community, various faculties as well as in private and non-government sectors.
At the meeting, the representatives of the Croatian Association of Social Pedagogues told President Milanović that experts shared their experiences in their work with children, youth and adults, as well as latest knowledge founded on scientific research through numerous presentations, symposiums and workshops at the Congress. The Congress yielded vast new knowledge and perspectives, indicating that social pedagogy is continuously developing as a science and a profession.
Furthermore, in presenting the Croatian Association of Social Pedagogues, they underlined that this professional association, founded in 1999, represents persons working in the area of social pedagogy, and is involved in advancing the profession of social pedagoy. They explained that social pedagogues are experts who work in detection, diagnostics, prevention and treatment of problems in the behaviour of children, youth and adults, and use their knowledge and expert skills to care for the most vulnerable, sometimes marginalized groups in our society.
At the meeting were Association president Maja Vučić Blažić, Association members Valentina Cindori, Sanja Narić, Sanja Risek and Kristina Ribarić as well as the dean of the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences of the University of Zagreb Ante Bilić Prcić.
Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka Žarković.
