President Milanović Meets with Participants of Educational Programme “European Parliament Ambassador School Programme – EPAS“
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with students from Zabok Secondary School who are participating in the education programme “European Parliament Ambassador School Programme – EPAS“. Accompanying the students were the principal of Zabok Secondary School, Draženka Jurec, teacher and team mentor, Marija Dlesk, as well as Krapina-Zagorje County-Prefect, Željko Kolar.
During the meeting, the students acquainted President Milanović with the EPAS (European Parliament Ambassador School) programme, which has existed at the European Union level since 2016 and is funded by the EU Parliament. They explained that in every state there are secondary schools in the role of ambassador schools, and at the school level, a team of students who are called junior ambassadors of the EU Parliament. Zabok Secondary School joined this project after cooperating with the European Commission Representation, in whose competition they won in 2022 and, as partners, organized the main celebration of the Year of Youth in Zagreb, and were included in the EPAS programme in the same school year.
In terms of the team’s obligations, they stated that, among other things, they implement mandatory EU educational modules and educate peers about the EU, its member states, values, institutions, programmes, current events, cooperate with other EPAS schools at the national and international levels, and promote the programme to the public. This year, Zabok Secondary School continues its multi-month projects: Happier Paws, Small Person for a Big Future, and Go2senior, which they presented to President Milanović.
The students of Zabok Secondary School, economics section, who participate in the education programme “European Parliament Ambassador School Programme – EPAS“ are: Lucija Bolarić, Chiara Štefanović, Karlo Gradiški, Ivan Kajtazi, David Minković, Lovro Presečki, Nika Tretinjak, Elena Videk, Bruno Vuglec, Andrija Žnidarić, Sara Dekanić, Fran Hršak, Vanja Kobeščak, Dolores Prugovečki and Tena Šipek.
Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka Žarković.
