President Milanović Meets with the President of Cyprus Nicos Christodoulides

The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović met and held talks with the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Christodoulides, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Croatia today.

At the meeting held at the Office of the President, Presidents Milanović and Christodoulides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and agreed that these relations are good. The two Presidents also exchanged views on the current political and security situation in Europe and the Middle East.

They further discussed cooperation between Croatia and Cyprus within the framework of the European Union, with President Christodoulides presenting Cyprus’s plans and priorities for its presidency of the Union next year. The talks also addressed cooperation within the EU MED 9 group, which brings together nine Mediterranean and southern EU member states. Croatia will host the EU MED summit next year.

During the meeting, the importance of supporting a peaceful settlement of the Cyprus issue was also emphasized, in line with the relevant international legal framework that upholds the integrity of the island.
