The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with a delegation from the organizing committee of the 90th Golden Needle event, which will take place on 22 June in front of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, under the patronage of the President.

The Golden Needle tradespeople’s fashion show is one of the longest-running fashion events in Europe, first held in 1935 and inspired by the Paris Fashion Week of the time. The event promotes the products and services of Zagreb tradespeople and aims to encourage both the use of their services and greater interest among students in enrolling in vocational trades. President Milanović congratulated the organizers on this major anniversary, which holds great significance for the trades sector in Zagreb.

The organizers presented President Milanović with the preparations for the 90th jubilee edition of this well-known trades and fashion event. They emphasized that, alongside fashion designers, tradespeople from many related professions will take part – including shoemakers, leather goods makers, furriers, hat makers, as well as hairdressers, beauticians, goldsmiths, and florists.

The meeting also addressed the current state of the trades sector, noting that around 20,000 tradespeople are currently operating in Zagreb. It was confirmed that the number of trades is growing, with the strongest growth seen in the area of intellectual services.

The delegation of the 90th Golden Needle Organizing Committee included Ivica Zanetti, president of the Zagreb Tradespeople’s Association; Mirza Šabić, honorary president of the Zagreb Chamber of Trades; Tomislav Kuna, president of the Golden Needle production team; Milena Kunčić, secretary general of the Zagreb Tradespeople’s Association; and Maja Vračarić, chief coordinator of the Golden Needle.

Accompanying President Milanović were Velibor Mačkić, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy, and Martina Ciglević, Assistant Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy.
