President Milanović Pays Tribute to Twelve Fallen Croatian Police Officers in Borovo

The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović today paid tribute to twelve fallen Croatian police officers at the memorial in Borovo, where he laid a wreath in their honour.

President Milanović laid a wreath on the 31st anniversary of the tragic death of twelve Croatian police officers who were members of the special police unit from Vinkovci. They were massacred by Serb paramilitaries on 2 May 1991 in Borovo (formerly Borovo Selo). The following police officers were murdered in the ambush, which took place that day in Borovo Selo: Stipan Bošnjak, Antun Grbavac, Josip Culej, Mladen Šarić, Zdenko Perica, Zoran Grašić, Ivica Vučić, Luka Crnković, Marinko Petrušić, Janko Čović, Željko Hrala, Mladen Čatić. Twenty-one members of the special police unit were wounded in the attack.

Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić and Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Mareković were alongside President Milanović at the wreath-laying at the memorial in Borovo town centre, held in memory of the murdered members of the special police unit from Vinkovci.
