At a ceremony held today in the Office of the President of the Republic, the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović presented officer’s ranks to the 13th generation graduates of the Basic Officer Training Course – Health Services section: lieutenants Silvija Jelačić, Antea Klobučar and Sara Milec.

President Milanović congratulated the officers, the members of their families and friends on “entering today the world of the Croatian army”. Speaking about health services in the Croatian army, he said that it is a service, which began like the entire Croatian army – with difficulty, unpredictably and painfully thirty years ago. “Your predecessors worked in dire conditions, exposing themselves and what they learned, not suspecting what they would deal with in 1991”, he added.

“Thank you for having chosen this calling. Behind you is a great deal of difficult and serious work. I congratulate you on joining the Croatian army and believe that the army will be equally smart and good towards you, that it will provide you with what every physician needs, motivate you to stay in the system, allow you to develop yourselves and give what every good physician can give”, President Milanović told the graduates.

Ranks, officer’s daggers, certificates and credentials certifying the completion of the first officer training level were presented to the graduates by President Milanović, the Assistant Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces for Health Services Major General Boris Zdilar, and the Deputy Commander of the Dr. Franjo Tuđman Croatian Defence Academy Brigadier General Blaž Beretin.

Alongside President Milanović were the Adviser to the President for Defence and National Security Dragan Lozančić, the Head of the Croatian Military Academy Damir Stručić and the Commander of the Andrija Matijaš Pauk Officers’ School Colonel Mirko Stošić.
