President Milanović Receives Delegation from Alka Knights Society of Sinj, Presented with This Year’s Sinjska Alka Programme

Today, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a delegation from the Alka Knights Society of Sinj at the Office of the President. The delegation presented President Milanović with the programme for this year’s 309th Sinjska Alka, scheduled for the 4th of August in Sinj, and expressed their gratitude for his continued patronage of the event.

In addition to discussing plans for the upcoming Sinjska Alka, the meeting addressed the continued promotion of this traditional event beyond Croatia’s borders. The participation of the alkars of Sinj in a similar event in Geneva was highlighted, where the Alka Knights Society of Sinj was the only non-Swiss group invited. The Society’s representatives emphasized the importance of the Alka Halls in Sinj, which host nearly all of the town’s social and cultural activities. They also expressed satisfaction with the increasing number of visitors to the Alka Museum in Sinj.

In addition to the President of the Alka Knights Society of Sinj, Stipe Jukić, the meeting with President Milanović was attended by Alka duke Mario Šušnjara, the Society’s Secretary Ivan Nasić, member of the Society’s Court of Honour Tomislav Župić, Commander (Alajčauš) Ivica Filipović Grčić, and Society member and event host Jerko Ivandić.

President Milanović was accompanied by Melita Mulić, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society.
