President Milanović Receives Delegation from the ‘Novigrad Spring’ School of Creativity

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović today received a delegation from the 49th School of Creativity and the 35th ‘Novigrad Spring,’ held from 29 March to 5 April 2025 in Novigrad under the patronage of the President of the Republic. The ‘Novigrad Spring’ School of Creativity is a seven-day workshop programme designed for highly motivated and potentially gifted elementary school pupils in the field of language and the arts.

Katarina Milković, Director of the Agency for Education and Training, presented the programme to President Milanović. The School is jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Education, the Agency for Education and Training, and the Rivarela Elementary School – Scuola elementare Rivarela – in Novigrad.

She explained that gifted pupils participate in one of 19 workshops in thematic areas such as literary arts, radio, television, stage performance, composition, dance, puppetry, photography, and digital illustration, led by experts from various artistic fields. This year’s School of Creativity in Novigrad brought together more than 300 elementary school pupils and 40 teachers, instructors, and educational specialists recognized for their work in the field of language and the arts.

The meeting also addressed the importance of artistic expression and creative education, as well as the role of the School of Creativity in encouraging young people to develop their talents and skills through innovative educational programmes. The School was also highlighted for its contribution to nurturing giftedness, artistic expression, and professional excellence within the Croatian education system.

President Milanović expressed his support for the organizers, teachers, instructors, and workshop leaders for their dedicated work, long-standing efforts, and commitment to fostering creativity and talent among young people.

In addition to Katarina Milković, Director of the Agency for Education and Training, the meeting at the Office of the President of the Republic was attended by Aleksandra Krt, Principal of the Rivarela Elementary School – Scuola elementare Rivarela in Novigrad and member of the State Committee of the ‘Novigrad Spring’ School of Creativity; Mirela Barbaroša-Šikić, President of the State Committee of the ‘Novigrad Spring’ School of Creativity; committee members Marijana Češi, Miroslav Mićanović, and Maja Zrnčić; Mayor of the town of Novigrad, Anteo Milos; representatives of Istria County, Patricija Percan and Vladimir Torbica; Sandra Miani, member of the Organizing Committee of the ‘Novigrad Spring’ School of Creativity; workshop leaders Irena Đurkesac, Doris Kovačić, Theodor de Canziani, Sara Stanić, Kristina Kovačević, and Dominik Vuković; as well as pupils and participants of the School of Creativity, Evan Andreašić and Ema Bubola.

President Milanović was accompanied by Jadranka Žarković, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Education.
