President Milanović receives delegation of Diabetic Association of Split celebrating 75 years of activity
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received in the Office of the President today a delegation of the “Splitsko dijabetičko društvo” (Diabetic Association of Split) on the occasion of their 75 years of activity. Through various projects and programmes over the years, they strived to help diabetic patients, and cooperated with professionals and institutions in order to prevent the occurrence of this disorder, treat it successfully and rehabilitate the patients.
Representatives of the Diabetic Association of Split: president Branko Lulić, vice-presidents Liljana Repanić and Vesna Zec, secretary Ivan Petričević and active volunteer Miro Katavić introduced their Association to President Milanović, and noted that it has been operating since 1947, the year diabetes was recognized as a major health hazard for individuals and society as a whole. The 75th anniversary celebration took place on 19 May 2022 in Split under the patronage of the President of the Republic who thanked them for their efforts and dedication in helping diabetics.
In the past 25 years the Diabetic Association of Split has completed a large number of projects and healthcare prevention programmes including numerous round tables and public forums on healthcare and social services topics, public lectures related to diabetes and counselling in individual counselling clinics with frequent blood sugar level testing and measuring of blood pressure. The Association currently has 102 members, and gets assistance from the Healthcare Administrative Department of the City of Split and Split-Dalmatia County, the Ministry of Health, the real sector and the media.
Attending the meeting alongside President Milanović was the Adviser for Education Jadranka Žarković.
