President Milanović Receives Delegation of Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today a delegation from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of the University of Zagreb, the leading faculty of pharmacy and medical biochemistry in Croatia. The occasion for the meeting is the 143rd anniversary of the work of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, which was marked by a formal session of the Faculty Council on 8 October.
The Faculty educates university masters of pharmacy, medical biochemistry and laboratory medicine, health professionals and researchers who are employed in healthcare institutions, the pharmaceutical industry, research institutions and regulatory agencies. Currently, there are 830 regular students enrolled in the Faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate studies, doctoral and specialist studies. There is great interest for studying at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry since there is a demand for pharmacists and biochemists on the market, however, the Faculty cannot increase enrolment quotas as they are limited in terms of space and teaching staff.
Representatives of the Faculty headed by the dean Zrinka Rajić acquainted President Milanović with projects that were implemented in the past five years and were financed by European funds: “Strengthening scientific research and innovation capacities of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, University of Zagreb“ (FarmInova), “Application of HKO in the improvement of study programmes in the field of pharmacy and medical biochemistry (PharmMedQ)” and “The Development of Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate Pharmacy Programme in English (Pharma5.0). Furthermore, they indicated that the complete renovation of the Faculty building is under way due to damages sustained in the earthquake. It should be completed next year.
In attendance at the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic in addition to the dean Zrinka Rajić were the vice-dean for lifelong learning Maja Ortner Hadžiabdić, full professors Lidija Bach Rojecky, Lada Rumora and Olga Gornik Kljaić as well as Faculty student Leonard Lončar. Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Education Jadranka Žarković.
