President Milanović Receives Members of “Kalnik” Croatian Singing Society from Križevci on their 125th Anniversary

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today members of “Kalnik“ Croatian Singing Society from Križevci on the occasion of their 125th anniversary. The president of “Kalnik“ Croatian Singing Society, Davor Konfic, and choir director, Ozren Bogdanović, presented their choir to President Milanović which, with brief interruptions, has been successfully in operation since 1900. This year, the choir is marking 125 years of work. Also this year, Križevci is celebrating 160 years of uninterrupted organized choral singing thanks to the singing societies that operated before and during the time of “Kalnik” Croatian Singing Society.

The members of the choir and society are individuals, university and high school students. “Kalnik” Croatian Singing Society has performed with its women’s, men’s and mixed choirs in numerous cities in Croatia, and has also successfully performed in Austria, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, while in collaboration with the choir of the Greek Catholic Cathedral it has also performed in North Macedonia, Vojvodina and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The representatives of the Croatian Choir Society “Kalnik” noted that they participate in all county and state festivals representing Koprivnica-Križevci County, as well as in other state and international competitions, where they have achieved notable results. The choir cultivates a wide repertoire of compositions by domestic and foreign authors from early Renaissance to the works of contemporary authors. They presented their choir to President Milanović with two compositions: “Domovini” and “Moj kraj”.

Besides choir director, Ozren Bogdanović, and Society president, Davor Konfic, attending the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic were Society members: Dunja Miklečić, Vesna Sokač, Marija Dimjašević, Petra Siladi Varović, Saša Komarica, Božo Zlatar, Mirela Rajniš, Kristina Višak, Klara Španić, Sanja Kemenović, Martina Krnjić, Stojan Miščević, Lovro Baričević, Tea Šatrak, Gordana Koščak, Hrvoje Seleš, Jasna Kadoić, Ksenija Maričić, Renata Jajčanin, Josip Šatrak, Martina Valec-Rebić, Ante Živković, Ivan Car, Mihael Rebić, Irena Horvat, Rajka Bajsić-Tepeš, Jelena Vanjhard and Jagoda Hrandek-Ilijevski.

Alongside President Milanović was the Special Adviser to the President for Culture Zdravko Zima.
