The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a project team that worked on a project entitled “FAIR (FER) Solutions for Better Community“, which was awarded first place by an expert jury in the scope of the “EU Sustainable Energy Week” in the “Youth” category.

The project was implemented by the Society for Sustainable Development Design (DOOR), a civil society organization of experts devoted to the promotion of sustainable energy development, in partnership with the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) and the City of Zagreb. The project encompassed energy-poor households in Zagreb, and its goal was to find a systematic approach to solving the problem of energy poverty in Croatia. On the basis of the findings of the fieldwork, FER students developed a model for auditing the energy needs of households, and the findings have already been used in developing policies for the City of Zagreb. The project was mostly funded through the European Social Fund.

Attending the meeting with the President of the Republic were the Executive Director of DOOR Slavica Robić, a representative of FER and at the same time project coordinator Marko Delimar as well as FER students Marija Horvat, Maja Matešić and Dajana Šeketa.
