President Milanović Receives Town of Popovača Delegation

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received in his Office a delegation of the town of Popovača comprising Mayor Josip Mišković, Deputy Mayor Lovro Miklaužić, President of the Town Council Saša Jagarčec, Head of the Administrative Department for Budget and General Administration Ivona Pušić, Head of the Administrative Department for the Communal System and Spatial Planning Ivka Nikolić Jež and Head of the Office for Social Services Sandra Horvat Dželalija.

Mayor Mišković acquainted President Milanović with the town’s development plans, which are aimed at further improving living conditions for its residents. He focused on the problems that many small local self-government units, such as Popovača, are facing, and singled out the use of state property, in particular, as one of the main issues. It was also mentioned at the meeting that Croatian entrepreneurs are interested in investing and starting production in Popovača, but in order to achieve that it would be necessary to obtain additional parcels of land and expand the business zone, for which the town would need to establish cooperation with the state authorities.

The development of agritourism in Popovača and Moslavina was also discussed at the meeting, in which the municipal authorities are interested, and in this context it was pointed out that there are already some 300 family-owned farms in the Popovača area.

Participating in the meeting alongside President Milanović was Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić.
