President Milanović Receives Winners of “Faust Vrančić” State Award for Technical Culture and Croatian Association of Technical Culture Award

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today in the Office of the President of the Republic the winners of the “Faust Vrančić” State award for Technical Culture and the winners of the Croatian Association of Technical Culture award for 2020.

The “Faust Vrančić” State award for technical culture is presented to individuals, associations and other legal entities for outstanding achievements in technical culture activities. One award is presented on an annual basis for lifetime achievement, up to ten annual awards to individuals and up to five annual awards to associations of technical culture, companies and other legal entities. Lifetime achievement award winner is Snježana Barabaš Seršić, and winners of the “Faust Vrančić“ award are: Jasmina Alilović, Dorian Božičević, Dragan Pantić, Boris Počuča, Roman Rubčić, Vlatka Ružić, Tomo Sjekavica, Darko Suman, Elvira Špelić Vidović, Alma Šuto, the Association of Technical Culture of the City of Dubrovnik and the Society for Research in Astronomy and  Ufology “Orion“ of Makarska.

Winners of the “Faust Vrančić“ award are prominent individuals, associations of technical culture, companies or institutions whose contribution and overall activities contribute to the development and advancement of technical education of the citizens of the Republic of Croatia, and especially youth. A great asset are extracurricular activities in natural sciences, technical and other scientific fields that enhance the development of abilities, knowledge and skills for scientific, technical and work creativity thereby achieving scientific and technical literacy, training and directing towards professions in natural sciences and technical fields.

Attending the meeting with President Milanović were the winners of awards presented by the Croatian Association of Technical Culture. The award of the Croatian Association of Technical Culture is presented for outstanding achievements, contribution and promotion of technical culture in the Republic of Croatia in technical culture activities. One lifetime achievement award is presented on an annual basis, up to five annual awards to individuals and up to five annual awards to associations of technical culture, companies and other legal entities. Lifetime achievement award winner is Dubravko Malvić, and winners of the Annual award of the Croatian Association of Technical Culture are: Valentina Blašković, Ivan Kostanjski, Željka Krizmanić, Dragan Mojsilović , Milan Rendulić, Astronomy Club “Gea x“ Slavonski Brod, Radio Club “Marjan“ of Split, the Association of Miniaturists, Modellers and Strategy Board Games “Agram” of Zagreb, and  the Croatian Association of Technical Culture of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

The meeting between the award winners and President Milanović was used to discuss the importance of technical culture for Croatia’s past and present development. Engaging in technical culture has always been demanding, and more so today since technological developments are quicker than ever. Thanking President Milanović on behalf of the award winners was “Faust Vrančić” lifetime achievement award winner Snježana Barabaš Seršić.

Accompanying the technical award winners was the president of the Croatian Association of Technical Culture Damir Tomić, and alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Education Jadranka Žarković.
