President Milanović to Serve Again as Patron of This Year’s Ladja Marathon on the Neretva River
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a delegation from the Neretva River Boatmen Association (Udruga lađara Neretve), which included Luka Oršulić, President of the Association, and members Ante Šprlje, Božo Zadro, and Tomislav Miletić. The Neretva River Boatmen Association is the organizer of the traditional Ladja Marathon on the Neretva River, which will once again be held this year under the patronage of the President of the Republic.
The representatives of the Neretva River Boatmen Association thanked President Milanović for his support and patronage, and updated him on preparations for this year’s 28th edition of the Ladja Marathon, scheduled for the 9th of August. The Ladja Marathon is an amateur sporting event featuring races in traditional, indigenous boats (“ladja”) from the Neretva River valley. It is held annually along a 22.5-kilometer route, with oarsmen competing on the Neretva River and its tributaries from Metković to Ploče.
President Milanović was accompanied by Melita Mulić, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society.
