President Milanović Tours Construction Site of Future Centre for Urban Culture in Zabok

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović visited the Town of Zabok where he attended a presentation of “re-GENERATOR“, a project for the renovation and reconstruction of the old ZIVT factory’s industrial premises in the town centre.

At the meeting attended by the member of the Croatian Parliament Siniša Hajdaš Dončić, Krapina-Zagorje County Prefect Željko Kolar, the mayor of the Town of Zabok Ivan Hanžek and other officials of the Town of Zabok, the deputy mayor of the town of Zabok and “re-GENERATOR“ project manager Valentina Đurek made a presentation of the project that was funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.

The goal of the “re-GENERATOR“ project is the renovation and reconstruction of the old ZIVT factory’s industrial premises in the town centre and its conversion into a modern centre for urban culture. A presentation was made to that effect of an innovative space plan that will house civil society organizations, youth facilities and incubators for creative industries. In this way, it was noted, by unifying a diversity of programmes, people and amenities, the Town of Zabok will become a hub for the development of the cultural and creative sector of Krapina-Zagorje County.

Following the presentation President Milanović toured the construction site of the future “re-GENERATOR“. In his statement to the media he expressed his satisfaction with what he has seen. “The Town of Zabok has made great strides in the last decade, and especially since our accession to the European Union, this project is an added value. The quality of cultural gatherings in which Zabok with its rock bands has always been, for a town with a population of ten thousand, is quite something”, the President noted.

President Milanović was accompanied by the Adviser of the President for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić and the Special Adviser to the President for Energy and Climate Julie Domac at the presentation of the “re-GENERATOR“ project.
