President Milanović Visits Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on International Day of Education

On the occasion of International Day of Education, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović visited the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zagreb. It is the only higher education institution in the Republic of Croatia, founded in 1919, in which scientific and teaching activities are carried out in biomedicine and healthcare, in the field of veterinary medicine. On the invitation of the dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Marko Samardžija, President Milanović toured the Faculty’s campus, which houses multiple institutes, clinics including laboratories and an ambulatory clinic of the University’s Veterinary Hospital.

During the visit, a presentation was made for the President of the Republic highlighting the activities of the following Departments: Forensic and State Veterinary Medicine, Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, Recovery Centre for Wild Animals, Radiology, Ultrasound Diagnostics and Physical Therapy, Infectious Diseases, Equine Department of the Clinic for Surgery, Orthopedics and Ophthalmology, Reproduction and Obstetrics, and Internal Medicine.

After touring the Faculty, President Milanović held a meeting with the dean’s college. Attending the meeting in addition to dean Marko Samardžija were the vice dean for Integrated Studies and Students Ksenija Vlahović, the vice dean for Finances and Investments Hrvoje Capak, the vice dean for Studies in the English Language and Lifelong Learning Marko Pećin, the vice dean for Science, Postgraduate Studies and International Cooperation Nino Maćešić and the vice dean for Quality Control Gordana Gregurić Gračner.

Alongside President Milanović was the Special Adviser to the President for the Economy Velibor Mačkić.
