President Milanović Visits Newly Reconstructed Žnjan Plateau in Split
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović today visited the site of the redevelopment and reconstruction works on the Žnjan Plateau in Split.
Accompanied by the Mayor of Split, Ivica Puljak, Deputy Mayor Bojan Ivošević, Žnjan Plateau project manager Zoran Jakelić, and the director of the Žnjan company, Marijan Ciprijan, President Zoran Milanović visited Split’s most famous beach, where reconstruction works are nearing completion.
The extensive redevelopment of the Žnjan Plateau, which began in February 2024, is now in its final stages. During the visit, representatives of the City of Split highlighted that the first phase of the project included the construction of a new, attractive promenade, the reconstruction and expansion of the beaches, and the installation of numerous amenities for both residents and tourists. The Žnjan Plateau has been open to the public since mid-May, with the final touches being completed to ensure the beach is fully ready for the start of the tourist season.
Valued at €45.5 million, the Žnjan Plateau redevelopment is the largest urban planning project in Split in the past 50 years. The revitalized area includes approximately 48,000 square meters of green space, featuring over 800 trees and 13,000 shrubs. New facilities include walkways, bike paths, children’s and sports playgrounds, an amphitheatre for cultural and musical events, hospitality venues, and a wide range of supporting amenities. With this transformation, residents of Split will not only enjoy a refurbished beach but also a modern, well-equipped space for relaxation and recreation.
President Milanović was accompanied by Melita Mulić, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society, during his visit to the Žnjan Plateau.
