President Milanović Visits the Company “GPI Istra” in Kanfanar and Tours the International Prosciutto Fair in Tinjan
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today in Kanfanar with representatives of the company “GPI Istra” d.d. and toured the company’s production facility. Afterwards, he visited the exhibitors at the 17th International Prosciutto Fair “ISAP 2025” in Tinjan.
The company “GPI Istra” is a joint-stock company with a long-standing tradition in the production of commercial cardboard packaging. During the meeting with the company’s management, President Milanović was presented with the company’s business results to date and its plans for future activities. Following the meeting, President Milanović, accompanied by company director Marko Despot and technical director Ivan Šošić, toured the production facilities for corrugated paper, cardboard, and paper and cardboard packaging.
After visiting Kanfanar, President Milanović toured the exhibitors of the 17th International Prosciutto Fair “ISAP 2025” in Tinjan. The International Prosciutto Fair ISAP has been held in Tinjan on the third weekend of October since 2006, when the Municipality of Tinjan declared itself the Municipality of Istrian Prosciutto. It is one of the most important tourist and economic events in central Istria, attracting more than 25,000 visitors each year. This year, the organizers decided to proclaim October as the month of the International Prosciutto Fair.
Accompanied by the Fair’s hosts and organizers, Mayor of Tinjan Goran Hrvatin and President of the Municipal Council Igor Antolović, President Milanović visited the exhibitors at this year’s International Prosciutto Fair, which is taking place from 17 to 19 October. Around fifty prosciutto producers from all parts of Croatia, as well as from Italy, Slovenia, and Spain, are presenting their products. In addition, other local producers are showcasing their goods – not only prosciutto makers but also cheesemakers, winemakers, and many others – offering a wide range of products at the Fair.
Each year, plaques and awards are presented to the most successful prosciutto producers for the quality of their products, and the Fair’s champion is proclaimed based on the evaluation of an expert jury composed of members of the Association of Prosciutto Sensory Analysts – GUSTUS, founded in Tinjan in 2010.
During ISAP, professional conferences, lectures, and presentations are also organized in Tinjan on topics related to the production and valorisation of prosciutto and other traditional local products, as well as ecological production.
President Milanović was accompanied by the Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy Velibor Mačkić.
