The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović has taken the Decision to Appoint Vice Admiral Robert Hranj Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces. The Decision on his Appointment enters into force on 1 March 2020.

Taking into account an earlier short-term commitment assumed by the Republic of Croatia, the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces has issued an Order on the Use and Deployment of the Croatian Armed Forces in the “Resolute Support Mission” in Afghanistan whereby in March 2020 up to 110 members of the Croatian Armed Forces will be deployed for a seven-month period, with the exception of medical team members who will be deployed for a four-month period. The future participation of Croatian Armed Forces members in the “Resolute Support Mission” in Afghanistan will be discussed with the goal of putting an end to the participation of the Republic of Croatia in the mission in Afghanistan.

The President of the Republic has met today with Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Damir Krstičević, the Chief of the General Staff General Mirko Šundov and the Director of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Robert Hranj. At the meeting President Milanović was informed about the state of affairs in the Croatian Armed Forces and development plans.
