The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović and his wife Prof. Sanja Musić Milanović, PhD, attended the opening ceremony of the 71st Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

The ceremonial raising of the Libertas flag on Dubrovnik’s St. John’s Fortress and the playing of Gundulić’s “Hymn to Freedom” ushered in the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in the Old City Port of Porat with a fascinating stage display and artistic performances in the port and on boats. The opening ceremony was directed by Marina Pejnović, and the musical programme was performed by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra directed by Tomislav Fačini, the Croatian Radio and Television HRT Jazz Orchestra directed by Miron Hauser, pianist Aljoša Jurinić, mezzo-soprano Dubravka Šeparović Mušović and Ivan Bonačić on the saxophone. Also performing at the opening ceremony were the Festival’s drama group and Folklore Ensemble Linđo.

During the Festival, which last a total of 47 days until 25th August, mostly Croatian performing artists will present approximately 50 plays, concerts, dance, folklore and other programmes.
